What our community of Women are saying about Rock Your Rhythm
-
I enjoyed the breathwork activities more than I thought I would. Deb managed to make a lot of dense information very accessible, and delivered it in a time-friendly manner. I was also not expecting to feel as calm and peaceful at the end of each lesson as I did.
Breathwork
-
Rock Your Rhythm has taught me how to best train during different stages of the menstrual cycle (and be kinder to my body).
Movement
-
I found the module on food philosophy helped me become more conscious about the quantity I eat, especially around my exercise. I liked the initial information about the cycle and the one about eating, which helped me notice several patterns I had dropped into and create changes to improve how I’m feeling.
Food Philosophy
-
There was a lot of interesting learnings in this course. I appreciated the contrasts around men / women and how different we are. This helped me remove a lot of judgement I had in comparing myself and my boyfriend when it comes to food, training and emotions.

“Rock Your Rhythm really helped me appreciate the difference between what’s sustainable for me as a woman and where I can just let go of advice that’s tailored for men. I’ve always been aware of this bias but it was really helpful to have specifics; like studies show it’s important to eat in the hour after a workout for female bodies, those saying it isn’t are referring to studies on male bodies. I really appreciated the science throughout, but especially in the food section. It helped me feel more confident in my choices and to notice a few unhealthy patterns that had slipped in recently - like realising I wasn’t eating enough when exercising and it’s been tanking my energy levels. Going through this program with other women was great and the way Deb really celebrates where we’re at personally made it feel really safe. The compassion and connection in the room each week helped me skip the ‘blame / anger’ phase and move straight to making changes that felt good for me. If you’re looking for a well held space to learn more as a woman about taking control of your health and wellness, I really recommend this program.”

Deb’s Story
I have always had painful periods but after the accident they seemed to change, to worsen.
Growing up the gut issues and painful periods were never diagnosed. I believed the media, that this was just normal. I learned to live with them. I was resigned to the fact that each month at least one day I would be in bed, unable to move or function.
After my car accident things started to change - chronic fatigue, mood swings and 2 weeks of the month a heavy depression would wash over me. Instead of one day a month of pain, it was 2 weeks of the month unable to function properly. I lived with this for 8 years until I was almost ready to give up.
Then I decided enough was enough, I started searching for a way to optimise my health and life. If my body created the problem, there had to be a natural way to help resolve it. I found breathwork, cold therapy and Yin Yoga. Learned to change my relationship to my body. Working with my natural rhythms instead of trying to mould it to society.
Since then, have become almost symptom free. Something I NEVER thought was possible.
You are not crazy and you are not making your symptoms up. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and PMSs are a real. Painful, highly emotional periods are NOT normal. They have just become normalised. But it doesn’t have to be this way forever.
Just like me, you can learn to optimise your health and work with your cycle instead of against it.
“As Dr Stacy Sims says, women are not smaller men. We function differently and therefore, require a different approach to health and life. Learn to work with your hormones, instead of against them. Then you can begin to Flourish”
